VEE Meal Eligibility

From August 7 through November 4, 2023, meals were available to any Vermonter whose food security had been negatively impacted as a result of the summer flooding. Recipients had to fit one of the following criteria:

● Individuals displaced from their homes or with damage to their home kitchens; 

● Individuals whose homes are experiencing utility disruptions; 

● Individuals in other living situations who have lost access to kitchen facilities as a result of the flooding event and related impacts; 

● Individuals who have lost their jobs or had a significant disruption in their employment (e.g., temporary lay-off, reduced hours, inability to access their place of employment) as a result of the recent flooding; 

● Individuals who have lost access to charitable prepared meals, home-delivered or available at a congregate site, as a result of the recent flooding; 

● Individuals housed in hotels or other sheltering programs available through State assistance, if the hotel or program is under a boil water or Do Not Drink order, or is experiencing a utility disruption or otherwise has experienced a flood-related disruption to food service operations or capacity; or 

● Any other individual whose access to prepared meals or regular food service, previously available, has been impacted by the recent flooding.

There was no application, registration, or means testing required. Meals were distributed in different ways in different communities.
